My nephew is really into saving money for a trip the family is taking to Universal so I gave him cash and wanted a cute holder to tuck the money in. I decided to make my own with a manilla folder. This is super easy and I will share with you how.
First cut down a folder to the size you want. I made mine 4 1/2 x 10. Fold in half and score with bone folder. Mat a piece of Party Games decorative print paper to front and stitch sides together. I love the vibrant colors of the paper paired with the shiney finish. Voila! A gift card pouch is made and it's nice and sturdy.
Next I added a scallop crepe paper border that I sewed along the bottom. I covered the seam edges by creating little bows with red Twirly Twine.
I then made a label with white card stock and cut a tiny strip of red foil also from Party Games. The pennants are cut from the diamond die cuts in the set as well and then I used stickers for the date and sentiment. The Paper Sheets and Tags sets offer a wide variety of items and are a tremendous value for all you get! Plus they are on sale this month. Check it out here. A few yellow rhinestones completed my project.
If you want a contrasting background for the inside of the pocket, line with gift wrap paper.
And because I like to give something for him to open, I wrapped a box of candy in the decorative print paper and made a pompom from yellow crepe paper from the Party Games set.
I cut strips of the crepe paper and tied together in the middle. It's as easy as that! I wrapped the gift and tied a piece of aqua Twirly Twine around it to make a bow with a red button to secure.
I used the ice cream die cut and added the letter "C" from the decorative printed paper sheets. It is attached with a bull frog clip. I didn't realize the irony of this till later with the frog print. ;-) A small rhinestone again to embellish and my gift was wrapped.
I hope this inspires you to create a fun birthday gift or even a Father's Day gift. Happy Summer to you!
