Fast comebacks needed!

As so many say, T.G.I.F. My DD was happy that her SOL's are completed which signals the end of another school year. The whipper snapper was extremely on track this week as she corrected me on Tuesday that she needed to eat a healthy breakfast since she had an SOL that day. A donut is not healthy? ;-) She constantly amazes me with her factorial statements. This week we worked on quick comebacks when someone is trying to get her "goat." After explaining what "goat" meant, it was time to find some fast words when someone was trying to get her "goat". She is extremely literal so when a boy told her that her entire family was ugly, she said, " no their not." Then continued to argue with him that he had never met her father or I so he could not know that. This ensued into a huge screaming debate in PE where the two were pulled aside. Hmmm. No further comment. I found a few online games that offer responses to bullies and she played them once. Now it's boring. If you know of any sites that provide this type of lesson I would greatly appreciate the link. Thanks!

I worked on a card for the So Sketchy sketch using the Use It challenge.

Supplies: Cardstock: Wausau white, Bazzill red;pattern paper: Making Memories Love Notes; stamp: SU; ink: Staz-On black;ribbon: Wright's red satin; button: Dress It Up pink; floss: Prism pink

Last night my alter mojo came back and I made my friend Pam a little circular box with some SEI papers and misc. items she sent me recently.

Here's a view of the entire box:

The Next Level

I just discovered this new blog site and can't wait for it to get started. Looks extremely promising! Lots of have signed on as followers to watch the launch. I can't wait!

The Next Level is the exciting new concept of Dawn (All Pink Girl) and Ann (Madgesty - Love to Create) probably better known as blog name Madge. Our aim in designing this new informative style of blog is not only to produce really creative Weekly Challenges that are not tied to any specific brand, but also to explore new avenues, ideas and techniques with a completely fresh approach.

The Next Level will not only be a fun and informative place to hang out for card crafters and scrapbookers of all levels, but it is hoped that it will also become a valuable source of information, hints and tips, tutorials, downloads and much more. We want to cover the craft of traditional card making but also add in a touch of digital, not too much to scare anyone away, but enough to explore the magical world out there at your fingertips for anyone wanting to venture.

Apron Strings Blog Hop

Apron Strings Designs has a blog now! To celebrate, we are having an official blog hop with some "Cookie Treats". Cookie Treats are scrapbooking goodies that are being given away for free! To win a treat, you need to start at the beginning of the blog hop and collect "phrases" from each person participating in the blog hop. Click here to go to the start.
Here's a tip to find my hint: It's "BIG" Email your answers to admin@apronstringsdesigns.com by Sunday, May 17th at 6:00 pm MDT with the "phrases" for your chance to win.

I began designing for Apron Strings Designs in January 2009. I remember when I received the email from Kathy and Lori asking me to become a Sous Chef. :-) I was ecstatic! Since becoming a Sous Chef, I have designed with two kits. Here are a few of my favorite cards from February and May's All Year Cheer card kits.

Apron Strings Designs offers 3 different kits each month. I love to receive my kit because it
"SAVES TIME". I don't have to drive to six different stores trying to find various papers, embellishments, and ribbons. It's delivered right to my door! I ♥ that!
Anything that "SAVES TIME" is a friend of mine. :-)

Thank you for stopping by my blog! The next stop is Jana Peterson's blog. She has lots of eye candy to enjoy! :-)

It's a two-fer **Updated**

I know, that's not a word and if my beloved reads this he will be sure to point it out to me. Sometimes a title needs to be a little different though and I already used two for one on a previous post. Hence the "two-fer". My DF can not stand when people say a "couple of times". He says, there's a word for that, "twice." Doesn't this make you want to meet him? LOL! He's a really sweet guy. I swear! :-)

Okay on to the card I made. It's a "twofer" because I made it for the Caardvarks challenge to use a verse or quote and for Digiments first release party.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill red; pattern paper: Memories Complete Beach II, chipboard: Making Memories; ribbon: Basic Grey; stick pins: Making Memories; rhinestones: Darice; punch: Fiskar's Threading Water

The sentiment is from Digiments. Yesterday, I had an announcement on my blog a long with a project I shared as part of the design team. I am addicted to the verses and phrases because they are so diverse and make quick cards. The blog has incredible examples that you must check out! There are cards, gift sets, and altered home decor pieces that you will gasp at.

The next card is a two-fer because it uses the sketch from ICS and the recipe from Use It:

Part of the Use It challenge was to make your own border, embellishment, etc. I made this scallop edge for the inside of the card. Also, I created the flourishes with a single stamp by inverting the stamp image. Hope that makes sense.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill and Wausau; pattern papers: Making Memories Sabrina; stamps: Amy Butler; ink: Staz-on black; ribbon: Lil Davis pink; jewels: Darice pink

My last card is for a wedding Simon and I are attending next week. I used the CPS #115 sketch:

Supplies:
Cardstock: Wausau white, Bazzill black; pattern papers, ribbon, and flowers: Making Memories Sabrina; stamp: Amy Butler; tulle and pearl strand: Jo-Ann's

That's it! All I have. Thank you for coming by to view. :-)

Supplies: K & Co. Cut-n-paste pattern paper, Jo-Ann's Swiss dot fabric, Prima flowers, rhinestones, and die cut felt, Archival Sepia Ink, Making Memories trim, pearl strand and button from craft supply, Digiment Inspirations

You Sparkle and a sneak peek from Digiments

I am so happy to be creating again. I was busy with preparations for Mother's day and I had to set aside any desire to craft until the house was tended to. It's done now though. Whew!

I hope all the mothers had a wonderful day with their family and loved ones yesterday.

As stated above, I had to get back into the swing of paper crafting and what better way to start than Kazan's with 2S4Y weekly sketch. This week the new DT began their term. These ladies are incredibly talented so pop on over to look at their fabulous cards.
I combined this card with Pink Elephant's color challenge. Not sure how I missed partaking in their challenges, but I am a follower now so I won't miss a post filled with inspiring creations.

Supplies: card stock: Bazzill and Wausau; pattern paper: Sass Lass; stamp: Hero Arts;ink: Staz-On; glitter: Martha Stewart; rhinestones: MME; rub-on: Cosmo Cricket; and ribbon from craft supply

The big reveal day for Digiments is fast approaching! The designers have been creating some fantastic cards and altered projects to share with you. Be prepared to be amazed! Here is a sneak peek at my altered project:

More great news and a few cards

I was really blessed to be asked to be a part of the Digiments design team. Digiments is a new company opened by Michelle. She creates sentiments that you download and print out at your leisure. Why I love this...the image is always clear (no more smudges or uneven words), you can make the image larger or smaller (which is great for cards when I want it a little smaller and altered projects which I usually want larger), no physical storage (except my hard drive), and it only takes a click to print(no need to get ink pads, blocks, etc). Okay, that is fabulous!
My sidebar has a listing of all the wonderful ladies that I will be working with at Digiments.

Below is my audition card featuring a Digiments sentiment:

Supplies: Bazzill sage green, pink, and black card stock, Webster's Pages pattern paper, AC Moore cream twill ribbon, Dress It Up black button, Archival Sepia Ink, and DMC white floss

This digiment and more will be avialable very soon.. The store goes live on May 13th and I will anounce it on my blog when it does! :-)

Next is my card for Card Patterns #13 challenge. Another great sketch provided.

Supplies: Making Memories Noteworthy paper collection and tag sticker, Martha Stewart ribbon, Prima flower, DMC floss, Archival Sepia Ink, Kaiser Craft rhinestone, and Marcella rub-on

That's it for today! Thank you for visiting! I truly appreciate it! :-)

Hurrah! Hurrah!

It's official! I was selected for a new position at Paper Popsicles as the Card Connoisseur. I will be contributing to the Paper Popsicles blog each week with a card sketch or recipe. I hope you will join me there for this exciting new feature and best of all... there will be prizes. Who doesn't like prizes? Stay tuned for the first post. I will update here when it goes live. I suspect it will be very soon. :-) In the meantime, join the board and meet some new and maybe a few old friends as we chit chat about the craft we love, share techniques, offer sketch and theme challenges and lots more.

I fell in love with the kits for May. Melissa has created incredible kits for a fantastic price. My personal favorite is the May Mini Picket Fence. It's only $9.99 for all of this....

What a deal! Paper Popsicles offers several kits including a card kit. Click here to view all the wonderful kits for May. Also, the Paper Pospsicle store offers scrapbooking and paper craft goodies at discounted prices! I bought tons of Kaiser Craft bling for only $1.40 per pack. Yahoo! There are lots of items on clearance at amazing prices so be sure to view all those items.

I do have a card to share today. I completed the ICS #14 challenge. When Making Memories introduced the Noteworthy collection, I went crazy for it and bought a huge amount of it. Plus, a local scrap book store was closing and they were offering a discount on everything so it was a steal. I can't pass up on deals. Anyhow, I still adore this line and it seems to always inspire me. Here's my take on #14:

Close up of card:

Supplies: Making Memories Noteworthy papers, felt flowers, Bazzill card stock, Making Memories foam glitter butterfly, Kaiser Craft rhinestones, EK Sucess friend stamp, Archival ink, and ribbon from craft supply

Thank you for stopping by! I always appreciate visitors. :-)
