Embossing goodness

Hey there! Another glorious Summer day here. :-) I'm back to share my card for The Shabby Tea Room's "Let's Make an Impression" challenge this week and The Cuttlebug Challenge to use lace. Thanks Terrie!



I used the Hounds tooth Cuttlebug embossing folder and then lots of Glimmer Mist and ink to give depth to. While I had the old red machine out, I die cut a few hearts from K & Co. paper. I am so bad about using this tool. I store it on the shelf and rarely pull it out because it's heavy and cumbersome. So many thanks to TSTR for encouraging me to use. :-) Lot's of embellies on this card. I have not used this color palette in a long time and thought I needed to give it a go. I like the way it turned out. Although, it was difficult to put the lace trim on an angle for me. I usually want everything straight. :-) Okay, off to water the poor plants.

Heatwave is here!

The heat has returned and it is expected to be close to a 100 today. Yeah! I love the hot weather. Tomorrow will be hotter. I think it's a pool day indeed. Most people are off today in the DC area so I expect it will be a busy day for the pool, shopping, and lots of traffic. I hope you had a fabulous 4th of July! What an honor to be able to celebrate as an American citizen and share in our freedom to watch fireworks and hang out with the family. Thank you to all those men and women that help keep us safe.
Today I have my Card Patterns card for sketch #71

I used some older Cosmo Cricket papers on this card. I wanted to add a little texture so I did some paper piercing around the edges of the papers. I made the rosebud flower with three paper flowers. It was easy to make just pinch the flower into a rosebud for the center and then glue layers around it. I distressed the edges of the card with So Saffron ink and used scissors and nail file to give a rougher edge.

These two cards feature GCD Studios papers that I made for the "Spotlight Gal" this month. I used Homespun, Artsy Urban, and Ava papers. I kept them simple but sweet.

I wanted to highlight the colors of the papers so I used the black cardstock to bring out their vibrancy. I love the texture of the papers. Not to mention the embossed and glittered papers they have! Fun stuff! The sentiments are from "book page" that I cut out. Lots of great phrases, sentiments, and more on this piece. I have more GCD Studios to share throughout the month so please check back. Wednesday Madness

Wednesday already ? I thought Summer days were long? They are flying by for me. I was in the Super Crafty Swap this month and my partner sent me all of this...

A card I made for Get Sketchy sketch #42 :

I used FTLOA's 3.2 challenge: pink turq, and white.
I adore this MME cloud paper and the pink polka dot and pink gingham strip are Making Memories. I cut a butterfly from K & Co. paper, added a Royal rub-on and then adhered three rhinestones to finish. A simple card but like it that way sometimes. Thanks for stopping by!

Lots to share at The Cutting Cafe'

The new design team for The Cutting Cafe has been announced and it's an impressive list of talented ladies joining us! Wow! Congratulations and welcome to the new DT members. Also, a sad good bye to many of my friends that are leaving the design team. I know it won't be goodbye forever since I see you online and other places, but you will greatly missed. How cool is that? I just used this super cute new invitation set :

It's called Assorted Invitation printable stamp sets and you can buy them individually or as a set. There are a total of six only four shown here. Since these invites are cute by themselves I didn't add too much. I printed my invite on craft cardstock, backed with black cardstock, paper pieced the red grill, and added a strip of gcd Studios pattern paper. I added a few stitches and a button to embellish. Easy peasy!

Not a lot of words for today, but want to share a card I made with recycled cardboard for the 2S4Y sketch this week. I really need to get some things taken care of so making this super short. Here's my card:

I used a doily, Prima flower, Foofala button, and Marcella rub-on. I distressed the edges with my scissors and So Saffron Stampin Up Ink pad.

Happy Wednesday to you! Another hot and humid day here in Virginia but not complaining. I like it that way. :-) Not much to share with you today. One lonely card. I made this card for JUGS brown, pink, and vanilla color challenge with inspiration from The Shabby Tea Room's "Cottage Comfort" photo seen here . A big congrats to the new Shabby Tea Room designers!

I pulled out some of my cherished Webster's Pages to make this. The first product line I purchased from them. Sigh. Such wonderful pattern papers. My inspiration from the photo was the dark brown bed with the striped comforter which I used brown Bazzill cardstock to represent and the lined paper for the bedspread. The flowers in the clear vase on the nightstand are represented with the pink crocheted flower and the sheer ribbon, the window panes were mimicked in the crystal glitter chipboard hearts (in my mind close to glass), a button hanging on a tag to resemble the hat on the wall, and I distressed the entire card to give it the worn/warm feeling the picture.
I have nothing left but a few scraps of these beloved papers now. I actually felt better that I used them instead of leaving them sitting in the paper organizer. Maybe one day I will use all of the papers I have? Bwahahahahaha!

Opps! Where did the time go?

Yep, it slipped right by me. I must say I was distracted the last week with Summer Camp, the final week of school, and then a family get together. Another grand time we shared with my family except J-bird was with her father. I missed her so. I always think it will get better when she goes to stay with him but I still miss the dickens out of her. My Tigger bounces above me as I work on cards or watch TV and I generally shake my head as the floor rattles and booms with her heavy footing. Nothing now. Just quiet. :-( I don't hear the creak of her door when she creeps out to visit and I feel rather sad. I miss hearing her laugh or sing in her room. Yes, I am guilty of sneaking up to the door to get a listen to what she's doing. Does it ever go away? It kinda reminds me of the first time she started to talk or stand in her crib. I can remember crawling on my knees to peek in her room to catch a glimpse. Please tell me others Mom's have done this? I would try to take pictures but she would hear the shutter and immediately stop talking or drop to her knees. Oh how precious children are!

So for today I have two cards to share with you. Regina has been at it again creating some more fabulous digital files for The Cutting Cafe that I want you to see. This is brand spanking new! Like just came out yesterday so pop over and get yourself this adorable Summer Fun printable stamp set . It has 33 images! Cute flip flops, ice cream cones, starfish and more.
I did a card for the latest Card Patterns using a sentiment from this set.
I used Studio Calico papers and Bazzill cardstock, did a little stitching, added lots of pop dots because the For The Luv Art card challenge was to make your card 3-D. This next picture shows it a little better.

Of course I did some embellishing with Foofala and Dress It Up buttons, a Recollections rhinestone, Bazzill rhinestones, and a piece of white grosgrain ribbon.

Next is a really fun card that I again used Summer Fun printable stamp set. The ice cream cone template can be found here. Brianne from For the Luv Art created it for Monday's card challenge.

This card uses some Basic Grey and MME papers, Foofala button, Dollar Store trim, and Bazill rhinestones.
