You Make Me Smile!

Back to share another kid inspired card with you.

This is Toby and he's from Digital Delights by Louby Lou.  I colored him in with my Copics and layered him on a Pink Paislee paper using foam dots.  He sure makes me smile.  The sentiment and banner are from SRM Stickers.  I used Pink Sorbet twine.  A fun little card to put together. The Sentimental Sundays challenge is cards for kids this week so hope you will drop by and join us with a kid inspired card.
Challenges I would like to enter my card in:
Card Patterns: #163 sketch
Crafty Catz: #130 Anything Goes

Humpty's Okay

Or at least on my card he is. ;-)  The newest challenge at Penny's is create a "Happy Birthday" card.
This is Digital Delight's image I paired with Lily Bee's Buttercup papers.  The grey, yellow, and turquoise is  an eye pleasing palette to me.  I especially love the lace print on the grey paper.

He's wishing a happy birthday using  SRM Stickers "Sticker Sentiments" Happy Birthday and "We've Got Your Border" Birthday. I used The Twinery's Caribbean for added texture.  A few rhinestones below my smaller sentiment to accent completed the card.

Challenges I would like to enter my card in:
Craft Your Days Away: #44 Cards for Children
Send A Smile 4 Kids: For The Boys
The Ribbon Carousel Challenge: #50 Anything Goes  with spooled item

SRM Stcikers and The Twinery Feature

Hello and a huge welcome to my blog with a project featuring SRM Stickers and The Twinery! The SRM blog will feature lots of amazing projects from the designers combining stickers and twine that you will be surely be inspired by. Check it out here! Be sure to pop over to The Twinery's blog to see what their Team has done with SRM, and be sure to leave a comment at the SRM blog for giveaways!

I made a little cap for a graduation invite using "We've Got Your Invite"  #56003 Graduation sheet and  "Express Yourself" #42019 Graduation sheet.     The tassel is created from denim twine and attached with a brad.  I thought this would be a fun way to invite guests to a graduation party.

To recreate the graduation cap simply cut a strip of black card stock for the band.  Form it into a circle and attach to a black square for the top.  I used Tombow glue to adhere to top.  Happy creating!

Mother's Day Inspiration

Hey there! I am ready to share my VSM projects for the month of April with a Mother Day's theme.   In the states we celebrate this special day on the second Sunday in May.  Per wiki: Mother's Day recognizes mothers, motherhood and maternal bonds in general, as well the positive contributions that they make to society.
First I have a shadow box filled with vintage sewing goodies along with a few new.  A wonderful way to pay tribute to those Mothers that sew.  This project uses items from the Dimestore Vogue set with it's fabulous retro appeal.

To create this box, I used acrylic paint to paint the outside of the box and then lightly distressed with ink.  Inside, I lined the back  using paper from the   Dimestore Vogue with it's rich colors and super smooth finish. I love it's glossy sheen. The button card and paper doll die cuts  are included in this set.  A super value!
I tied a piece of denim Twirly Twine to the button die cut and added a little safety pin to embellish.  The quote uses letters from the Dimestore Vogue which I ran through the sewing machine and attached to the button card die cut.  I wanted my paper doll die cut to stand in front and be the main focal point of this project.   A few buttons, a broken rhinestone necklace, a bit of lace, an old thimble, and other sewing notions completed the project.   The photo below shows the depth and layers in the box.
Moving on to share another tribute to Mother's.   I thought a mini album seemed like a perfect project using lots of Family Fun.  A great way to capture memories and preserve the moments you want to share again and again.
I made the mini album from chipboard and covered the front and back covers with the mother paper from Family Fun Set.  I rounded the corners and distressed lightly to give a vintage look.  Next I started layering.  I love VSM paper kits because they offer pattern paper, die cuts, borders, and much more.  I used a pink envelope from the set which you cut out and then fold to create in two steps.  Easy huh!  I then added a button card from Dimestore Vogue  for the insert.  I created a pennant from the red check print, punched a circle, and added an adorable baby image also from the Family Fun set.  These kits are packed!  A few embellishments  and a aqua bow from Twirly Twine to complete the front.
Here's a peek inside:
My final project for today is a floral garland created from Dimestore Vogue.  A fun way to decorate a  mantle, doorway, mirror, and more for your Mom.  Plus these flowers are forever!

I created this in a jiffy and they are foul proof because you don't have to be precise with your cuts.  Using chocolate brown crepe paper, cut two large circles with pinking shears.  Punch an extra large scallop from the aqua foil.  **If you don't have a scallop punch cut a circle.** Cut large circle from text paper.  Cut a circle from yellow paper sheet.  Here's the fun part and why you don't have to be precise, crunch or ball up all the pieces.  Unfold and then start layering from large to small.  I added a button with aqua Twirly Twine t0 the center of mine.
A close up for you to see the scrunching.
And here's a photo of mine hanging on my amoire.
Happy creating to you!  I hope one or all of these projects will inspire you to make something special!

Spring Birthday

Happy Monday to you!  I have a delightful Spring birthday card to share with you today for Paper Playtime's Say It With Sentiments challenge.

I love the orange!  A dear friend sent this TPC paper set to me a while back and I love the brilliance of color paired with slight distressing.  I covered a card base with the papers and then lightly inked a doily with orange ink.  I punched a aqua bracket and stamped my sentiment from Clear Dollar stamps.  The ribbon and  felt flower were part of the set.  Don't you love when you get everything together like this?  My latest obsession (again) is twine so a few wraps of the pink sorbet The Twinery completed this card.

OWH with SRM Stickers

Me again!  I am excited to write that SRM Stickers paired up with Operation Write Home (OWH) which is a fabulous organization that sends blank handmade cards to deployed service members so they an write home to those they miss and love.
I created this card to send.
I created it by combining a "merry Christmas" sticker to make the word cherry.  What things you can do with stickers!  :-)  I hope you like and will consider sending a few cards to this worthy cause!

Bloom and Grow

Sorry I was MIA for a bit.  DD and I went on a cruise over the Spring Break and it was quite eventful!  Flight delays, missing the boat, unexpected changes in the schedule cause typical stress on anyone.  For someone with Autism, it can be especially stressful.   She reacted extremely well and was able to handle the adaptations beautifully.  Whew!  That was my biggest concern.  While away, we missed "Light It Up Blue" for Autism Speaks.  We do this every year by changing out our white porch light with a blue one.  A simple action for a worthy cause so hope you will consider lighting it up blue.
It's Spring and time for the weather to act that way.   We had a freak hail storm yesterday.  I am not too fond of the cold weather and especially when it brings anything falling in hard increments.  I am hoping we will rise back up to warmer temps this weekend so I can enjoy being outside.
Okay onto my special project for Penny's challenge this week.

This is a white cardboard bag/box I added a precious little digital image from The Poodle's Parlour  with a few scraps of paper, an SRM Sticker, and some diving twine from The Twinery.  An easy transformation from the plain white before.  I thought this would surely make a cute little something to cheer up someone.  :-)

A few challenges I would like to enter this into:
Polka Doodles: Week 15 Pink
Aud Sentiments: #52 Spring/Summer Colors
Crafty Creations:  #165 Flowers
Little Red Wagon: Spring Colors
