Altered Snowflakes

I made a special snowflake ornament for a friend that I would like to share with you today.  It's one of my favorite things to do is transform a dollar store item into something that exudes style and looks costly.
I started with a plastic snowflake that I glued to a scallop die cut  for the background.  Next I started layering more scallop pieces with stamped images.  I paired a silver tinsel  trim in there for extra shine.  I added a button at the top to finish it off and then strung a thin silver cord to hang it.  I would love to make these for my tree but I don't have the time to make 50 currently.  Perhaps after the holiday is over, I can stock up on the snowflakes and create away.  I think they make beautiful ornaments and can be personalized with initials, words, images, etc.  I envision charms dangling.  Oh so many ideas.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
Addicted to Stamps: Snowflakes

So cute, and creative. I think your idea to make some for your tree is great. I use these snowflakes also to create fun things. They are very versitile. I used one on a card, I just haven't posted it yet. You'll know it when you see it. Hugs

Oooh, Amy! This is gorgeous! I'd say you've taken some dollar store merchandise and turned it into high end boutique! Love that snowflake. I bought some glittery ones that are similar at the dollar store last year and have had the most fun with them. Really love the combo of stuff you've used here. The scalloped circle in the background brings a touch of the earthy, the snowflake adds a look of nature, and then the tinsel glams it all up. LOVE that!
