As promised, I am back with more and a sale!
I mentioned I had more cards to share yesterday and I am trying to make good on my promises. :-)
Again a card for a couple of challenges.
First is Paper Popsicles. The monthly theme is cards and the second challenge is to make a thank you card with a flower. I used some scraps from The Shaker Box's February card kit. I was a guest designer and really loved the kit Linda created. She selected the chic Amy Butler papers and some fun embellishments that included the velvet ribbon on this card. If you enjoy card making, check out her kits. Each month Linda chooses a theme such as friendship, Easter, Mother's day, etc. The kits come with pre cut card stock, ribbons, brads, buttons, stamps, envelopes, and pictures with directions to make 6 cards that were created by her designers.. Of course there is enough product to create even more cards using your own designs. The kits are a total value! Be sure to check out the online store and sign up for the community. I used Card Patterns sketch #9. One reason I love this blog is because there is an eclectic mix of card makers that contribute their work. Sometimes I feel like I am in rut and find my work stagnant. My fiancee says he can pick my work out amongst others. Huh? Is that bad? He said it's my style. Hmmm. Okay, so this site has some really funky and fresh, mixed in with a few vintage and shabby, along with simple and cute cards. Lots of styles to inspire.
I used a Velcro dot to close this card.

The next card is for Inspirational Card Sketches #11. Have you ever started a card and thought I just don't know? I am not having any good ideas. Then suddenly you start adding items and decide you need to stop! Yet you are not sure if you like it? That's how I am about this card. Definitely on the fence.
Again I am embracing the white space idea. This card uses Amy Butler papers, chipboard letters, and die cut. The buttons, velvet ribbon, and pom pom trim are from craft supply.
Okay, that's it for me today. I have to finish a recipe book for my Mom. I had no motivation to work on these 12x12 books but, one is done and I am finishing the second up today for sure. What a great relief it will be to hand these over. An achievement if you will.
Okay, enough from me.

If I had my way...
I would create all day long. Alas, not to be. So, in between I am doing what I can and today was a super day! I was diligently working on several challenges and managed to complete quite a few. Granted I am double dipping on them but, I think most agree it's okay to when there are so many incredible challenges and only so much time. It seems to be common amongst card makers to make one card that follows a sketch from one site and a supply list from another site. I really like doing this because it requires me to put my thinking cap on and lately I have been using older papers and embellies which is always good!
So without further adieu, here's the first card.
It's an Easter egg shaped card for the Paper Popsicles site. I incorporated supplies from Lori's Use It's challenge which are: Use a die cut (DCWV polka dot flower), old patterned paper (Basic Grey and I have no clue how old this is but it's been in my stash a long time), an item you bought on clearance (Martha Stewart ribbon was a score from clearance bin at Mike's), use an older technique on your card (distressed with a darker ink which was popular way back when and also used a nail file to sand edges). Sorry the photo is so light.
My next card is based on Lucy's sketch for April at My Sketch World
which I was immediately excited to try! She has awesome sketches. Again, I used another challenge, Sketches by Tamara recipe #43 which is: stitching, brads, and cut out flowers.
Sometimes I can't stop myself from completing an inside so....
Supplies used: Making Memories paper, Pink Paislee alpha stickers, Martha Stewart ribbon, various brads, Stickles, DMC floss, Archival Ink, Dress It Up button, and Studio G stamps.

Autism Awareness Day
Today is Autism Awareness Day and I would like to encourage you to check out a few sites I find extremely education and beneficial. See my favorite links on right. As a parent with a child on the spectrum, it's been wonderful for me to find valuable resources to help my daughter. I am not sure if it is understood that Autism is not a disease that can be cured. It is something my daughter will always have and I can't give her a pill to cure her. While social skills can be taught, there are areas that can not. It becomes a matter of tolerance.
The best situation is to apply a structured environment and yet it needs to be flexible. How can that be? Isn't that contradictory? Why yes it is. We are all creatures of habit, we have our likes as well as our dislikes. We like our routines and deviating from the norm is uncomfortable. I am sure there is something that causes you to feel anxiety. A few examples, flying, spiders, and public speaking. We consider these normal triggers for anxiety. For my daughter, she has different scenarios that some people find odd. It could be a loud noise or particular smell.
While we try to prepare her for schedule changes, it is not always possible and sometimes it just has to be. I find that she has embraced these changes better over the last year. Still, it is impossible to prepare her for every scenario. Those that know me are very familiar with a few occurrences.
Each day we learn and each day we move a step closer to J finding herself. I don't consider myself different than any other parent. Every parent wants their child to thrive in life. While there are various aspects to what one deems a successful life, it's the concept that is consistent. We all want the best for our child. Essentially, we are the same.

A delightful Monday
Yes it is indeed! Glorious weather really can effect one's mood for the day. Here in Virginia is it sunny and in the 60's. A perfect Spring day. Even better, I can wear flip flops! Yeah! Today was also a creative day because I got a card kit from Kelly's Keep In Touch. She makes these amazing kits with lots of papers, ribbons, buttons, die cuts, stickers, rub-on's,embellies, and blank cards in unique shapes. This kit she made for me has Scribble Scrabble paper which I am now a huge fan of. Such bright and cheery patterns and in the color red! My favorite. :-) Thanks Kelly for hooking me up with this incredible kit! She will make a custom kit for you too. Check it out! Well worth it!

First is my 2S4Y which is Kazan's #23. I missed Laura's sketch last week and was a little bummed because I have only missed once before while on vacation. I promised myself that I was going to do this week's right away to nip it in the bud so to speak. Everything I used on the card is from the kit I mentioned above except the cream card stock scallop, paint, and ink. I used the box the kit came in to make the circle.
Next is Card Patterns' #7 sketch. I looked at it on Saturday and thought, this is going to take some creativity from me because my traditional style is for paper strips to fit from side to side. After I made the first card, I had an idea that the bracket die cut and the transparency flower would look nice layered. The green and yellow polka dot paper is the cutest! I used the left over red polka dot paper to make the longest element and the rest just came together quickly. These are my favorite type of cards because once you complete them, you have the feeling of accomplishment and relief!
And if you are reading this, thank you! I was wondering if it's difficult to set up an ETSY store? I see people selling their work on ETSY but wondered about the process? My card stash is plentiful. I recently donated 50 of my cards to Pay It Forward to raise money for Autism. Yet, I still have many and yes I keep making them! So, I am curious if it is worth while to set up a store on ETSY and see if anyone is interested in buying my cards. If you have any advice, I would truly appreciate it. Two for One
I combined two challenges to make this card. I used Card Patterns #7 sketch and Use It's challenge by Heidi Van Laar which was use eyelets, something older than a year, and polka dots.

Yeah it's Thursday!
The week has gone by fast for me. I am not sure when I lost track of time, but thinking it must of started on Tuesday when I became engrossed in a book. This happens to me when I find a great book to read. The book I read was a guide to help parents connect with children that have Aspberger's. It was incredibly insightful and I appreciated the references. I decided to instill a new regime in my reading habits. I am trying to balance out the fiction and non fiction reads by alternating between the two. I love going to the library and finding new books. I feel like a kid in a candy store when I walk out with my stack of books!I get so excited while the clerk is checking me out. It feels like I just got the best deal of my life. It's free after all! Does it get any better than this?
Today is Thursday which means I am going to the library so I want to share a coupled of cards I made quickly.
I used some older papers mixed with a few new in an effort to use what I have. I wanted to make some bright and cheery cards for spring and Pink Pasilee's papers were a perfect choice for this.
The second challenge at Use It was chosen by Danni this week. Her example is gorgeous!
Here is Danni's challenge:
•use spring colors on your card
•use 4 flowers (I hand cut the flower stem out with the flowers and then cut two additional flowers to give dimension to)
•use a tag ( I cut a label from the journal sheet)
Supplies: Pink Paislee Spring Fling, Office Lingo, and Sweet Cakes papers,Stickles,Cosmo cricket rub-on, Ranger Distress Old Photo ink, foam mounting tape

I rotated her sketch 90 degrees to the left.
